We start with a conversation about your concerns, medical history and goals. The scalp or skin is then examined under magnification, your donor area is assessed if relevant, and baseline photographs are taken. You leave with an explanation of your diagnosis and the options open to you — no treatment is carried out on the day, and there is no pressure to book.

Suitability depends on the pattern and stability of your hair loss, the quality and density of your donor area, your age, and your general health. Some people are better served by medical management first, and we will tell you if that applies to you. A clinical assessment is the only reliable way to answer this question.

Hair transplant procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic. Most patients describe the anaesthetic itself as the uncomfortable part and the procedure that follows as tolerable, though individual experience varies. You will be given pain relief guidance as part of your written aftercare.

Most people return to non-physical work within a few days to a week, with visible redness and scabbing typically settling over one to two weeks. Strenuous exercise, swimming and direct sun exposure are usually restricted for longer. Your specific timeline is set out in your aftercare plan.

Transplanted hair commonly sheds in the first few weeks before regrowth begins. Early change is often noticed from around three to four months, with fuller results assessed at twelve months or later. Timelines differ between individuals, which is why we review progress with standardised photography rather than from memory.

A small blood sample is taken and spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich fraction, which is then introduced into the scalp in a mapped pattern. It is typically delivered as a planned course and is most often used as supportive therapy alongside medical management or after a transplant, rather than as a standalone treatment.

Exosome-based scalp protocols are a developing area of regenerative aesthetics. We offer them only where clinically appropriate, using regulated preparations, and we will explain the current evidence and its limitations before you decide. If we do not think it is the right option for your case, we will say so.

Because the laser targets hair in its active growth phase, treatment is delivered as a spaced course — commonly six to eight sessions, though this varies with the area treated, your hair characteristics and hormonal factors. Every course begins with a patch test before any full session is carried out.

Scheduled reviews are part of every treatment plan, with comparison photography taken against your baseline. Home-care guidance is adjusted at each review, and you will have a direct point of contact with the team if something concerns you between appointments.
